Clinical Child Psychologist in the Lake District, Cumbria

I am Dr. Nicola Kennelly, a Chartered Registered Clinical Psychologist since 2001. I specialise in working with children and adolescents with all types of mental health difficulties.

My areas of special interest are attachment and developmental diagnoses. I have further training/experience in evidenced based approaches to complex parenting issues and in working with looked after children in residential settings. I have also worked in child development diagnostic teams and offered specialist advice and interventions for children with developmental diagnoses e.g. learning disability, autism spectrum conditions.

I can offer psychological assessment, formulation and intervention; teaching and training, professional advice and consultations, group or individual supervision. and an expert opinion in my areas of special interest. This can be with individual children and/or their families and to individual professionals and/or organisations

I am down to earth, genuine and supportive. My overall aim is to be a catalyst to support positive change in people’s lives.

I am based in the Lake District and provide services across Cumbria and North Lancashire.

My specialist areas have been in assessing and managing complex child development concerns and in providing specialist support and advice regarding complex parenting issues.

Harmony

I have worked with children and young people to improve their quality of life and wellbeing. I have worked with all common mental health conditions eg depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal concerns, addictions, etc.

New Beginnings

I have supported children, young people and their families to cope with adjusting to life changes such as separation, loss and bereavement, transitions and medical diagnoses.

My experience includes working with children with learning disabilities and child development concerns.

What I do

I focus on issues of developmental concern (growth), support improved quality of life, wellbeing and mental health (harmony), and support people through change and adjustment (new beginnings).
